In the mood for Halloween animes?

Hey guys! Thank god its the weekend right? How was everyone's week? Haha! Well, it was ok for me......LOTS of homework but what can I say? I'm a grade 12 student! One more year to go......YIPPEE (Sarcasm). The other day we had a career fair and man, I didn't know how terrified I was. I'm so not ready to graduate but.....I'm eager to get out of the house and away from the hectic and dramatic life of living in a house or a screwed up town where everyone judges you. I know. Life isn't full of fun all the time but thats reality. This is why I run to anime. Anime is beautiful in a sense where you can just enjoy life and tune out of reality. It's amazing :)

Anyway, I have been FINALLY had the time watch anime! YAY. I have spares during the day and its amazing! (I mainly spent it on tumblr...) Oh, speaking of tumblr, I changed my tumblr! I had two (sorry to keep the secret...) so I decided to delete the other one. My new one is www.otakuyayachi.tumblr.com. Please do follow that one! My wallpaper is cooler and I post more!! ^_^ (I deleted the other one anyways)

Alright! Here is some awesome animes if you are in the Halloween mood!

Title: Diabolik Lovers
Genres: Romance, Comedy, Fantasy, Shojo, Slice of Life, Drama
Age Rating: 16+ Older Teen
Status: Ongoing

Summary: (animeseason.com) Komori Yui is a positive-thinking girl who nevertheless is troubled by seeing spirits and experiencing poltergeist phenomena. In her second year in high school, she transfers to a new school—a night school for entertainers and celebrities—due to her father's work. There are rumours that vampires exist among the student body, and Yui ends up living with the six sadistic Sakamaki vampire brothers.

I LOVE THE ART. ITS AMAZING. The men are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Holy cow. I'm in love~ <3 Seriously. Do you guys see the pictures I posted? Yes. Beautiful. Stare at its beautiful hotness and art. Anyway, the storyline is quite dark. I was surprised that many things that happened in the anime. It's different and I'm enjoying it! It's not your typical shojo story and I can see some AMAZING character development. Its interesting......definitely different. These vampires are very erotic, sexy and extremely mysterious. Perfect for the Halloween mood! ^_^

Title: Attack on Titan
Author: Isayama Hajime
Genres: Action, Shonen, Drama, Fantasy, Adventure, Tragedy
Reading Direction: Right to Left
Age Rating: 16+ Older Teen
Status: Ongoing

Summary: (mangafox.com) Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by walling themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants.
Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as one of the city walls is damaged by a 60 meter giant causing a breach in the wall. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as Eren's mother is eaten alive.Unable to save her , Eren vows that he will wipe out every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind.

I finished watching the anime. TWICE. It's pretty dark. Like wow. I honestly love the realistic art and........the storyline is just heartbreaking, breathtaking, anticipating and jawdropping. It's genius. The storyline is not only dark but it makes me realize how humanity is weak or whatever. I can write an essay about how this anime relates to humanity but not today! Hahaha! The art is great, especially the graphics and fighting scenes. You should try it, if you don't like it, at least it makes you think. Hopefully. :)

Title: Blood Lad
Author: Kodama Yuuki
Genres: Shonen, Comedy, Drama, Slice of Life, Fantasy, Adventure
Reading Direction: Right to Left
Age Rating: 16+ Older Teen
Status: Ongoing

Summary: (mangafox.com) taz is the vampire boss of a section of the demon world, but he has little interest in human blood. He's more infatuated with Japanese culture. When he learns that Yanagi Fuyumi, a Japanese teenage girl, accidentally wanders into the demon city, he jumps to the occasion. However, while Staz deals with an intruder on his turf, the oblivious Fuyumi is killed by a monster and becomes a wandering ghost. The disappointed Staz vows to her that he will find a way to bring Fuyumi back to life.

This anime is soooo funny!!! SO AMAZING. Different storyline and its shonen!!!! I LOVE IT. I'm done watching it but....I WANT MORE. I started the manga and wow.....hahahahahhaah. I just love it. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Hahahahahah! You guys should watch it! Its amazing.

Title: Log Horizon
Genres: Fantasy, Shonen, Comedy, Drama, Action, Adventure
Age Rating: 13+ Teen
Status: Ongoing

Summary: (animeseason.com) Elder Tales is an online fantasy RPG that has become popular worldwide. But when its twelfth expansion package, "Cultivate the Noosphere," is installed, thirty thousand players in Japan are trapped inside. Among them is grad student Shiroe, who isn't very good at interacting with others. But to survive in a world full of monsters, he forms a guild called "Log Horizon" with an eclectic group of other players.

In the beginning I immediately thought of Sword Art Online. Like wow. This anime is pretty similar to SOA but after a while, there is some differences. I just started watching this anime and its ok. I'll get back to you guys on this one.

Title: Kill la Kill
Genres: Action, Fantasy, Ecchi, Comedy
Age Rating: 16+ Older Teen
Status: Ongoing

Summary: (animeseason.com) In a high school where students possess uniforms that give them various powers and abilities, student council president Kiryuuin Satsuki rules by force. However, a transfer student named Matoi Ryuuko stands in her way, wielding a scissor sword and a possessed school uniform.

I didn't really expect much from this anime but I completely fell in love with it. It's pretty funny and I don't actually mind the ecchiness after awhile. But seriously, why does it have to be about the amount of skin showing? Its a bit uncomfortable being a female and creators make this type of anime that show alot of......boobs. I don't get it. Anyways, if you get over that fact, the storyline isn't half bad. I like it! It's pretty funny and man, the graphics are AMAZING.

Title: Samurai Flamenco
Genres: Comedy, Drama, Slice of Life, Fantasy, Action
Age Rating:13+ Teen
Status: Ongoing

Summary: (animeseason.com) Masayoshi Hazama has decided to become the superhero Samurai Flamenco in spite of having no special abilities or modifications. Hidenori Goto is a police officer who learns his secret identity by chance, which causes him all sorts of trouble.

Truly, this anime is pretty inspiring. I love how much Hazama wants to get rid of injustice in his area. It's pretty entertaining. I'm freaking serious. I'm fascinated about the utter fact that anyone can become a hero. I love having that awesome thought. The art is amazing! I LOVE IT. Hazama is hot......and man. Reading yaoi doesn't help me think about how good he is with that police officer. I SHIP THEM. Hahahhah!

Philippines~~ :)

I'm studying Biology at the same time.......I love my bear I got at comic con! Hahaaha!

So you guys have been wondering how my summer was. I pretty much didn't want to come back to Canada because I had the time of my life. I met so many people and even made friends. I took ALOT of pictures! Unfortunately I don't have time to post them all and I don't want to create stalkers on the internet so.....here it goes!

I left July 6th. I packed a lot of stuff and driving to the airport takes 2 hours from my place because I live in a town. Before we had to leave, a couple weeks before hand, my mother got my family to sleep during the day and stay awake at night in order to get used to the time difference once we landed. The plane ride was........ok? Let's just say 12 hours on the airplane was tiring. I watched a lot of movies.........7 in a row? I couldn't help it and at the same time, I wasn't tired at all.

The boys in Philippines are sooo nice! Every time I walked down the hallway of the school, they would come up and talk to me or say "Hi". Not to mention, they were utterly beautiful and good-looking. I had a couple crushes because every guy at the school could sing and dance amazingly. However, I still like this person so.......anyways. I honestly think that I have more guy friends there than in Canada. No offence to white boys but I prefer to marry a Filipino boy from now on! Haha!

My family had the opportunity to do some preforming for various churches in the Philippines and got some positive feedback from everyone. I played flute, piano and even sang a couple songs for everyone. It was very encouraging to have people appreciate your talents.

I had the opportunity to go to the Bible College my parents attended. Everyone was extremely nice. I stayed in the girls dorm and my brother had the opportunity to stay with a couple of Hawaiian boys in a room. Seriously, two boys from Hawaii decided to come and have their vacation in the Philippines too! It was pretty awesome to talk to them. Not to mention, they spoke english. It was hard to try to speak filipino because my accent is just terrible. I can understand what my peers are saying without their craziness added but it was definitely a challenge.

I have been with many places with my cousins. I miss them so. One of the first things we did when we landed was go to the Mall of Asia. I was ecstatic. It was amazing. One Canadian Dollar was 40 pesos in the Philippines. Wow, just wow. I bought ALOT of stuff for cheap there. It was quite a great deal I'd say. However, there was this mall I wanted to go to but Manila got flooded! It rained 4 days straight before we left Philippines! My mother was worried our flights would get canceled! Fortunately, not! We got to the airport but there were alot of koreans who got stranded.

Anyway, the Mall of Asia was EXTREMELY huge. You would have to go to stay for like a week to travel the whole mall. Unfortunately, my family stayed in Manila for two days until we had to my parents place in Isabella.

The food was interesting. Even though my parents taught us to eat everything, there was some food I haven't seem before. You know, my diet in the Philippines pretty much rice and bananas on a typical day. I ate alot and I'm happy to say that I gained some weight (believe me, having such a high metabolism is bad especially when you don't eat enough) Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about my trip!

Comic con~~ :)

Hey guys! I'm alive! Haha! I'm sorry I haven't been able to post.......so busy! Haha! I'll try to post as much as possible since I am graduating this year.....I'll try VERY hard! Ok? I'm sorry. I've been on tumblr. It's addicting and beautiful. Anyway, let's get started!

School has been alright.....and pretty hard with all the drama going around. I broke up with my girlfriend (I know, I had a girlfriend. Don't freak out ok? My love life is kinda...crap) and homework is piling up. Today is the day to start to apply for colleges.

(gif from tumblr and credits go their rightful owners!)

Anyway, I had the opportunity to go to Comic con!!! It was my FIRST time! I kept fangirling and I spent most of my money.....my mother wasn't exactly impressed. I couldn't help it ok? The stuff that they were selling were utterly amazing! Haha~ I took tons of pictures!!! I look up to cosplayers!

This guy was freaking awesome~

Homestuck~

These guys were soooo cool!!! I was taking a picture of Korra from Legend of Korra but everyone kinda just photo bombed it! Comic con was just utterly amazing!!

From Attack on Titan! :)

Left to Right: Flash, Batwoman and Batman

Misty and Slender man? Slender man scared the shit out of me!

Cosmo and Wanda from Fairly Odd Parents

Hello Kitty fans, this is Hello Kitty samurai. This is amazing.

From Accel World

Power Rangers! POW!

From the anime Mahou Shojo Madoka

I think the blue haired guy is hot..... :)

MY HEROS. The Sailor moon crew!

Adventure time~

Me when I wanted to talk to the cosplayers.......they were like GODS to me!

I just kept fangirling like an idiot.

I just had a blast. Not to mention that I saw my long lost friends from Family Camp during a youth thing the day before. This weekend was just utterly amazing.

Manga (for real this time!)

Yes. I am no longer talking about random things because I really do have the ability to read English!! Because of that amazing ability of mine, I believe the title of this blog is Mangafreak.

So...

In light of this not-so-recent discovery of mine, I wanted to review some of the manga that I love <3

Skip Beat!

"When an actor immerse themselves in a role, they are truely a professional".

-Skip Beat!

Definitely my all-time favorite.

It's still ongoing, so I won't spoil anything for you! All I can say is that Kyoko, the main character, is an amazing person, and I find myself growing to like her more and more every single time I read Skip Beat. She's a human girl who struggles with the whole idea of love- not just romantic love- because of her past. But you learn that she's actually extremely strong and that even though her past has hurt her, it has also set the foundation for her to grow and become an incredible actress.

I really enjoy seeing her become different people and where her acting is taking her. You may think this weird, but I reread the entire thing (so far) and made a list of my favorite chapters. I realised that most of the chapters were ones of her in different acting roles. I'm really impressed that Yoshiki Nakamura was able to create all these different characters, and if you look closely, different parts of Kyoko.

It's funny; as I got deeper into the story I found myself trying acting techniques she used and to be more like her. I think she's a great role model for girls like me who want to act, but need that advice and an understanding of what it's really like.

If you're into drama or acting, I encourage you to look it up!

1/2 Prince

"It's just that ... my killing methods are a tiny bit like the horror movies! Plus... I just like having my body soaked in blood, and it's really just good manners, that I like to smile at others! Just because of that, they give me such a horrid title! How unfair!"

- Prince (a.k.a. the Blood Elf), 1/2 Prince

Ahh... The gender bender. This story takes place in the future, where technology is further advanced (by about 1000 times) and where everyone basically has two lives. One in real life where they eat and sleep and go to school, and the other one in video games. Engineering has gotten to a point where a new game has come out with a 99% reality level. The main character, Feng Lan, is tired of taking on girl characters who just leech of guys and don't earn their levels in the game- or so her brother tells her. She sets out to prove her brother wrong, and because she is one of the first people to log on to the game she is granted one request. She decides that the way to prove her brother wrong is to play as a guy. Wish granted, she sets off into the world of Second Life as Prince, the newly made bishie with a love for fighting.

I did prefer the novel because I got to see different peoples POV, there was more detail, and there were some extra chapters you didn't see in the manga, but the art in this was amazing. It was intricate, and there's nothing like seeing a character you've only imagined in your head brought to life.

I loved the plot; who doesn't like seeing how the gender bender deals with their situation in real life? In this novel, you get to see how it affects her online too.  The reveal, the romance, the mistaken identity & confusion, and the adventure that comes with it.

Shiawase Kissa Sanchome (Happy Cafe)

"Dream? I don't have any. But, umm...
I just wanna make people happy.
That's all".

- Takamura Uru, Happy Cafe

This mananga (mananga? Manga ;-) makes me so happy whenever I read it. It's one of the stories I read o'er and o'er and never get tired of. Uru, the main character is one of the girls who gets all of the guys in the end, and even then you don't mind because she's so caring and innocent in a way. Seriously. Every guy she meets cares so much about her. The romantic storyline is really enjoyable and each character's unique personality adds so much to the plot- C'mon. There's a guy (a true bishounen) who will only wake up if you feed him. Who wouldn't read about that? Haha! Plus, you'll love reading about their little siblings and their own (mis?)adventures.

Ichirou or Shindou... It's so hard to choose! Takamura is a lucky girl. Honestly, my parents look at me weirdly when I read this because it makes me laugh out loud. All the time. The art is also one of my favorites, by Kou Matsuzuki, who's also the author and illustrator of Ouji to Majou to Himegimi to.

This manga will surely leave you with a smile on your face, and a very happy person :-)

Hana to Akuma (The Flower and the Demon)

"To live in the hearts of those we love is to never die".

-Hana to Akuma

This is one of the shorter mangas (whereas I usually read ones with 100 chapters and counting), but one of my favorites. Believe me, I cried and laughed as I read this.

It's about a demon who finds a baby on his doorstep, and decides to raise her. He loves her as a daughter, but isn't prepared for her to actually grow up. As she gets older he struggles with his feelings, love rivals, his own duties in the demon world, and the whole immortal-mortal dilemma.

I love this soooooo much. So much. I am not ashamed to laugh or cry in public when I read this... It's just a little embarrassing when they ask you what's wrong and I answer them "I was reading a book!" while simultaneously crying my eyes out. And then I laugh at the next chapter...

Who cares? Get to know me before you judge, people!

Oresama Teacher
I would get kinda nervous since they looked, so delicate, you know...
Um... If I had to say something it would be that they're...
like angels!

- Kurosaki Mafuyu, Oresama Teacher

Oresama Teacher is still ongoing (it's one that I check for updates almost daily on) and a great shojo manga that isn't quite so romance 24/7. There's lots of action, confusion, and quirkiness.

A lot of these characteristics are brought on because of the protagonist's (Kurosaka Mafuyu's) decision to become more of a 'girly-girl'. She idolizes normal girls, and has an urge to protect them while simultanously trying to become one.

The problem is that she was the banchou of her old school, and is actually a great leader and fighter, which makes it hard for her to be a 'proper lady' when she has the constant need to protect people. (That's probably the reason she was the leader of her delinquent gang at Higashi High). Because she wants these to completely different things, all sorts of situations come up...

Between the complicated plot, lovable (and really quirky) characters, the art, and the relationship I have yet to understand with her teacher, I see no reason why you shouldn't check this out at your next opportunity.

And because you all live online and there are a bunch of manga-hosting websites at your fingertips, I better hear what you think pretty soon :-)

I hope your summer is going great, and that you're ready for school ASAP!
Any advice for somone starting public school for the first time?

Hell or High Water

Hi Guys!

In honor of the Albertans experiencing the effects of the major floods, I just want to take a minute to acknowledge the event of the last few weeks.

Yes, I know this isn't manga, but I felt that I needed to write this down because I think that some events are too important to forget, and believe me, I've forgotten more important things than I can count. By posting this on the internet, I know that it will stay there for a long, long time. I can only hope to make a few more people aware of the events of June 20th-23rd.

Because of the excessive rain, the Bow and Elbow rivers flooded and overcame neighborhoods in Medicine Hat, High River, and Calgary, as well as many other Southern Alberta communities. Pets were lost, property was damaged, and places were shut down for days.

Depressing. I know.

I certainly wasn't expecting it. You seem so sheltered, thinking that these disasters only happen in foreign places and that it fades away within weeks. But it doesn't. A couple days before, we were happy for the rain because all of these cities are really dry places, and let's face it. We all like to see a little green when we occasionally take a look past our computer screen and out the window.

BUT.

It was amazing to see all of these concerned neighbors and strangers getting off their butts and helping others. Many people volunteered their time, and donations to the Red Cross poured in. Strangers accepted strangers into their houses and gave them a place to stay. You could see all of the love.

What amazed me was that they got the Calgary Stampede up and running. A few events were canceled, but the midway was set up, "interesting" deep fried foods (deep fried pickles??? bleh.) were created, and they were able to drain most of the water out.

They sold these T-shirts to help raise money for flood victims, and I thought they were awesome. The problem was that they just sold either small or X-large. What is with that???

The best part is that they created a different shirt for kids. When I saw them at first, I thought it was a mistake, but then I realised that we were near the kids area. You know what they sold there? "Heck or High Water" shirts... lol. In my mind, I was like "What difference does this make?" Oh well.

If you guys are in the Calgary region, you should check it out!

Thanks again,
FP
