Manga (for real this time!)

Yes. I am no longer talking about random things because I really do have the ability to read English!! Because of that amazing ability of mine, I believe the title of this blog is Mangafreak.

So...

In light of this not-so-recent discovery of mine, I wanted to review some of the manga that I love <3

Skip Beat!

"When an actor immerse themselves in a role, they are truely a professional".

-Skip Beat!

Definitely my all-time favorite.

It's still ongoing, so I won't spoil anything for you! All I can say is that Kyoko, the main character, is an amazing person, and I find myself growing to like her more and more every single time I read Skip Beat. She's a human girl who struggles with the whole idea of love- not just romantic love- because of her past. But you learn that she's actually extremely strong and that even though her past has hurt her, it has also set the foundation for her to grow and become an incredible actress.

I really enjoy seeing her become different people and where her acting is taking her. You may think this weird, but I reread the entire thing (so far) and made a list of my favorite chapters. I realised that most of the chapters were ones of her in different acting roles. I'm really impressed that Yoshiki Nakamura was able to create all these different characters, and if you look closely, different parts of Kyoko.

It's funny; as I got deeper into the story I found myself trying acting techniques she used and to be more like her. I think she's a great role model for girls like me who want to act, but need that advice and an understanding of what it's really like.

If you're into drama or acting, I encourage you to look it up!

1/2 Prince

"It's just that ... my killing methods are a tiny bit like the horror movies! Plus... I just like having my body soaked in blood, and it's really just good manners, that I like to smile at others! Just because of that, they give me such a horrid title! How unfair!"

- Prince (a.k.a. the Blood Elf), 1/2 Prince

Ahh... The gender bender. This story takes place in the future, where technology is further advanced (by about 1000 times) and where everyone basically has two lives. One in real life where they eat and sleep and go to school, and the other one in video games. Engineering has gotten to a point where a new game has come out with a 99% reality level. The main character, Feng Lan, is tired of taking on girl characters who just leech of guys and don't earn their levels in the game- or so her brother tells her. She sets out to prove her brother wrong, and because she is one of the first people to log on to the game she is granted one request. She decides that the way to prove her brother wrong is to play as a guy. Wish granted, she sets off into the world of Second Life as Prince, the newly made bishie with a love for fighting.

I did prefer the novel because I got to see different peoples POV, there was more detail, and there were some extra chapters you didn't see in the manga, but the art in this was amazing. It was intricate, and there's nothing like seeing a character you've only imagined in your head brought to life.

I loved the plot; who doesn't like seeing how the gender bender deals with their situation in real life? In this novel, you get to see how it affects her online too.  The reveal, the romance, the mistaken identity & confusion, and the adventure that comes with it.

Shiawase Kissa Sanchome (Happy Cafe)

"Dream? I don't have any. But, umm...
I just wanna make people happy.
That's all".

- Takamura Uru, Happy Cafe

This mananga (mananga? Manga ;-) makes me so happy whenever I read it. It's one of the stories I read o'er and o'er and never get tired of. Uru, the main character is one of the girls who gets all of the guys in the end, and even then you don't mind because she's so caring and innocent in a way. Seriously. Every guy she meets cares so much about her. The romantic storyline is really enjoyable and each character's unique personality adds so much to the plot- C'mon. There's a guy (a true bishounen) who will only wake up if you feed him. Who wouldn't read about that? Haha! Plus, you'll love reading about their little siblings and their own (mis?)adventures.

Ichirou or Shindou... It's so hard to choose! Takamura is a lucky girl. Honestly, my parents look at me weirdly when I read this because it makes me laugh out loud. All the time. The art is also one of my favorites, by Kou Matsuzuki, who's also the author and illustrator of Ouji to Majou to Himegimi to.

This manga will surely leave you with a smile on your face, and a very happy person :-)

Hana to Akuma (The Flower and the Demon)

"To live in the hearts of those we love is to never die".

-Hana to Akuma

This is one of the shorter mangas (whereas I usually read ones with 100 chapters and counting), but one of my favorites. Believe me, I cried and laughed as I read this.

It's about a demon who finds a baby on his doorstep, and decides to raise her. He loves her as a daughter, but isn't prepared for her to actually grow up. As she gets older he struggles with his feelings, love rivals, his own duties in the demon world, and the whole immortal-mortal dilemma.

I love this soooooo much. So much. I am not ashamed to laugh or cry in public when I read this... It's just a little embarrassing when they ask you what's wrong and I answer them "I was reading a book!" while simultaneously crying my eyes out. And then I laugh at the next chapter...

Who cares? Get to know me before you judge, people!

Oresama Teacher
I would get kinda nervous since they looked, so delicate, you know...
Um... If I had to say something it would be that they're...
like angels!

- Kurosaki Mafuyu, Oresama Teacher

Oresama Teacher is still ongoing (it's one that I check for updates almost daily on) and a great shojo manga that isn't quite so romance 24/7. There's lots of action, confusion, and quirkiness.

A lot of these characteristics are brought on because of the protagonist's (Kurosaka Mafuyu's) decision to become more of a 'girly-girl'. She idolizes normal girls, and has an urge to protect them while simultanously trying to become one.

The problem is that she was the banchou of her old school, and is actually a great leader and fighter, which makes it hard for her to be a 'proper lady' when she has the constant need to protect people. (That's probably the reason she was the leader of her delinquent gang at Higashi High). Because she wants these to completely different things, all sorts of situations come up...

Between the complicated plot, lovable (and really quirky) characters, the art, and the relationship I have yet to understand with her teacher, I see no reason why you shouldn't check this out at your next opportunity.

And because you all live online and there are a bunch of manga-hosting websites at your fingertips, I better hear what you think pretty soon :-)

I hope your summer is going great, and that you're ready for school ASAP!
Any advice for somone starting public school for the first time?

Today, I don't really have any homework because I finished it all at school. I just need to pack for a Church retreat to the city! I'm so excited!

It's hard enough fitting in at a new school while dealing with family problems.... Will Haruna remain jaded and distance herself from everyone around her? Or will Macharu win her over with his monkey magic?

This manga is sooooo cute! I can't stop laughing!!!! I love, just love with this manga!!! It never fails to make me smile. Like all typical shojo manga's, there were some parts where it just dragged on and on until it got to a point where it was plain boring. However, the herione saved it all for me. Since birth her heart has been very weak and she was told that she would probably live to be only fifteen. However, one day she meets Tōya Kanō, a vampire, with the opposite problem: Tōya lives for about one thousand years. It's customary for a vampire at his age of eighteen to choose a human partner to be with for 1000 years who in turn would let him drink their blood and share his life span for the millennium.

Early in the series, Chiyuki offers Tōya her blood, so that she would be able to live longer, but Tōya refuses, claiming he dislikes the sight and taste of blood. In the beginning, he even looks down on humans, believing that they are weak creatures who will only die before him and leave him behind, but later on he, with the help of Chiyuki, starts to see the world in a different perspective.

WAHH!!! Reading this again makes me cry. I just the storyline and art! You have your strong-willed, typical shojo girl with your typical shojo man who is extremely arrogant but nice. The pairing of the two is interesting and it makes me happy all the time. It's so touching and beautiful. I love Bisco Hatori~!

Dark air is amazing!!! I mean really! The storyline is just amazing! It is sooo cool! The art is rocky at the beginning but got better and better getting into it. The action scenes are cool and I want to draw just like that! Each characters are unique and have a really awesome fighting style. Why do Shonen manwha's have to be so cool?

Mamoru is a very picky eater and his father Suguru needs a reliable housekeeper since his job as a pilot keeps him away for days at time. The only rule is, no falling in love with Suguru, which should be easy, right? Right?!

This manga is sooooo cute~! Of course this manga has a typical yaoi storyline but hey, I still enjoyed it. The art is adorable and I love the comedy in the manga. It just fit in so well. I find the romance went a bit too fast. I know, its yaoi. Yaoi manga's tend to have romance just thrown in there but only most of them. If this manga was just a a chapter longer then what would happen to the story? If the first story had a slower paced story, maybe it could be better. I'm just saying! No negative comments! Overall, the manga is a great quick read and lightnened my stressed and horrible day.

Happy Belated Birthday to Ai!

Time: Midnight

Sleepy..............but don't want to sleep! I have this terrible cold. My fever is going away at least but my headache is killing me. (Well, duh, you are staring a bright computer plus its midnight) Here I am drinking lemon tea with lots of sugar. My throat is extremely sore and I can't talk!

Wow, look at how I started this post. Sorry Ai! I didn't want to sound extremely cheesy. You'd hate me! Anyways, I just wanted to dedicate this post to my best friend Ai! Who is Ai you ask? Well, Ai has been my best friend since....................grade six I believe. I can't even remember how we first met. All I remember is that manga has brought us together! :D I'm such a nerd.

Random picture ....... :P Just something to make you smile

I moved away before grade eight happened so I feel extremely bad. Until now, me and her has been exchanging emails and letters. Since I got to see Estelle last week, I gave my birthday present to her to give to Ai. If you are Ai reading this, I hope you like it..................I drew lots of hot guys for you.........I'm sorry if they fail or something!

Arina Tanemura is her favorite mangaka ever! Arina Tanemura is amazing~! Ai's birthday is on August 9th same with my other two friends, Elly and Aaryn. I unfortunately missed it because I was camping. Please don't hate me! > x < Haha!

When I was with Estelle, I got her into the Korean drama, You're Beautiful. My mission is to get Ai addicted to this drama too. Especially the songs. They are amazing! Shall I put some here for you? Doesn't matter if you say yes or no, I'm putting them on anyways! MWHAHAHA! I am the master!

....

I'm seriously going crazy. Great, being sick also means going insane. You know what they say, if the world is sane, you just need to be insane just to make life more interesting.

Current Time: sdfjdfsieieijaljsfdilewje (1am)

Please don't get confused. By this time, its probably..................one am. I just quit this post and crashed at this point. What I mean by crashed is, getting a terrible headache and laying my head on this laptop like it was my pillow for half and hour until I realized it wasn't my pillow. Sorry if I'm being confusing but hey, life is confusing!

Current Time: 12:00 Lunch time!

I went to bed at like, 2am. I finally woke up and ate just now so hopefully there isn't anymore distractions. Please forgive me Ai. Now where were we? Ah, yes, the songs! Here they are. Ai, if you are reading this, you better listen to them and watch the drama with Estelle or something!

As Ever

Promise
Without Words

Well, I guess this is the end of this post. Wait! I have another song, the birthday song! Of course its going to be a Japanese song.
권보아(Gwon Boa) - Happy Birthday(Japanese)

Friends, Food, Cats and Camping

*Sigh* I just finished all of the days that was needed for my manga challenge! I also finished work so I'm sorry if some things don't make sense. Also, I am catching a cold! (NOO!) *Cough* *Cough* I can hardly speak!

Anyways, I have missed a whole week of blogging last week so I just want to pile all of my excuses/adventures in this post. I have lots of pictures and information I will share with you today. If you just want the manga recomendations, I will put them throughout this post because I am extremely lazy to put them in another post. (Man, this post is going to be the longest I have ever written!)

I'm feeling a fever at this point..........on with this post!

Ok, where do I start? Oh, yes, the friends. On Friday August 3rd, I got to see my best friend for the first time since last Christmas. Her name is Estelle (blog name!) and she has quite of blogs. I started blogging before she has and she is doing quite well! :) You can help her out by checking out her blog! She does alot of music recommendations on the one blog.......I can't remember.

I want my pillow......I need sleep!

This blog: http://kiritsuko.blogspot.ca/ or this blog! http://echo-in-the-wind.blogspot.ca/. Whatever seems appealing to you, go ahead and read them!

Anyways, I got to spend three days and two nights (not long enough!) with her. I missed Estelle soooo much! I'm not kidding. It makes my day whenever she emails me. At times, I feel extremely bad because she ALWAYS gets/sends me a whole bunch of manga's and she doesn't want any payment! Thanks to her, my manga collection has grown ALOT since last year.

When I saw Estelle waiting with her Nannie and Grandpa, I was like, "She hasn't changed a bit!". Estelle showed me around her Residence which was extremely cool. She was living on her own for one month? I maybe wrong. If I'm wrong, she'll comment or send me an email! :)

Here are some pictures of food that I ate and stuff I bought while I stayed at her Nannies house! The first night, Grandpa (I just call Estelles grandpa that, I don't have one) treated us to Vietnamese food. At first, I was hestitant but I ended up loving the food. I order this teriyaki meet with vegetables. It was amazing! My tummy was extremely satisfied. The food was delicious~!!

On the first night, me and Estelle talked up a storm until 3 am. We just didn't talk but I successfully got her into the Korean Drama, You're Beautiful. We watched three episdoes? I can't remember. It was like a week ago!

The next morning, we woke up at around 9:30 am. Nannie drove us over to Starbucks for breakfast. Man, I felt like I was being spoiled! Estelle bought me breakfast (DARN YOU! I owe you now!) and we talked with Nannies friend for a bit. My drink is on the left (Hot chocolate-yum!) and Estelles drink is on the right. I forgot what the drink was called...... :)

After about an hour or so, Nannie set us loose at in Chapters. You see, the Starbucks we went to was attached to Chapters. I was getting books for my other best friend because her birthday was on August 9th. I felt bad for not getting her anything last year so I made sure I got her something amazing. Same for Estelle, I didn't get the time to send her birthday persent to her so I got payed for one of her books.

Doesn't the art look amazing??? Plus, theres hot guys!

There were many manga books there! I was contemplating on what books to get! I had the manga Sakurahime Kaden vol 3 and 4 for my best friend's birthday and Estelles Samurai book...........I needed to get myself a book! I ended up getting vol 2 (no volume one!) of the manga, "The Betrayal Knows My Name" aka, "Uraboku" in Japanese.

After our adventure at the bookstore (I love the bookstore), me and Estelle went to a Heritage Festival that was happening. It was extremely cool! It was like traveling the world in three hours! We went to this Indian stand where people were getting Henna's which are just temporary tattoo's. Estelle told me that the black Henna's can cause cancer so we both got brown ones instead.

Alright. Me and Estelle went to the Taiwanese stand where we both got extremely cool umbrella's. I also got this awesome Pikachu hat! I know I'm such a kid but hey, it was awesome and I couldn't resist its cuteness...... :D

I'm the Blue Umbrella on the left! Cool huh? :D

The cool thing about this Heritage Festival was I got to see dances! For the first time I got to see traditional Filipino dancing. It was really neat! I got to experience my culture!

After a while, me and Estelle found the Japan stand! It was sooo cool!

Me and Estelle got bookmarks with our Japanese name! :)

After that amazing adventure, we went home. We took the bus and it was really cool! I haven't been on the bus for a while! I live in a town so don't judge me!

Anyways, Nannie took us to the store to buy food for dinner. I ended up getting Pocky there.

For dinner, we had amazing hamburgers! We ate outside where it looked pretty bad because there was a storm coming! The lightning was scary....

It got pretty bad after everyone was done so we all went inside to eat desert. It was amazing!! I love you Nannie!

Contending for a chance at revival, a thrilling buddy action story!

This manga is utterly interesting! It is marked as "new" on mangafox.com so I can't wait for new chapters to come out! The art isn't so bad!

Ok, back to my life story again! If these manga recommendations didn't satisfy your cravings, there is still more to come!

As for the Cat portion of my post, I temporarily had a cat. It was interesting. I met this cat on Thursday August 2nd before I went on my Adventure with Estelle. I looked outside of my house one afternoon, I heard a meowing noise. I'm pretty sure I wrote about this before but whatever.
Anyways, I'll cut to the chase. It died halfway through our camping trip. It was extremely depressing. When I got back from my adventure with Estelle my family was frantically getting ready for the week of camping. Fun. You know me, I hate camping! Actually, it wasn't as bad. I met lots of people such as these crazy Filipino's! They kept stealing my Pikachu hat and blue umbrella!

Back to the cat! I come back home from my awesome adventure and I notice the cat wasn't feeling well. My family discovered this cat on the thursday and after that, it was like our family cat. However, this cat was wild and my family was like, "What's wrong with it?!" after it started to throw up. We figured it drank water from our pond which is extremely unhealthy considering the water looking yellow. I felt so bad for it. My family ended up bringing it with us.

On the way to the camp, we finally came up with the name for the cat. We named him "Lucky" because he/she has to be lucky that we found him/her in our yard. That cat would have been a goner! But it ended up dead anyways.......its so depressing! I cried...........we only knew the cat for.......four days? It was such a young kitten! He/she was pitiful.........

Anyways, sorry for the depressing news. I'll talk about camping! Camping was so bad. As I've said, I enjoyed meeting people and napping. My Pikachu hat attracted people! Ok, time for my last manga recommendations!

The art is AMAZING! I love it to pieces! Just look at it! WOW! There's a sequel to this manga if you have already finished. It's called, "Cavalier of the Abyss". I haven't read it yet since I'm still finishing this manga. The stroyline is downright amazing! Though it kinda reminds me of the manga/anime Busou Renkin. Anyways, it still has it's differences and I enjoyed it so much! I fell in love with the art right away! The action scenes are pretty dark and cool. Shonen lovers out there, this manga is for you!

Arigatou~!!
